Bjarke Mogensen, Accordeon
Music by
Venue: Chiesa Santa Caterina, Castelvittorio
BJARKE MOGENSEN,
Bjarke Mogensen was born on the Danish island of Bornholm were he quickly made a name for himself as an internationally acclaimed accordion virtuoso and a versatile musician with a keen ear for different styles. His repertoire spans from the 16th century to contemporary music, and his playing has inspired composers at home and abroad to write new concertos, solos and chamber music specifically for him. Mogensen’s back catalogue includes many critically acclaimed releases, some of which are solo recordings whereas in others he plays opposite the symphony orchestra or appears as a key figure in smaller formations playing music from folk to avantgarde. As a solo performer Mogensen not only plays music originally written for the accordion but even has developed a successful repertoire of his own arrangements of classical works. The instrument he plays belongs to a very restricted number of exclusive Mythos accordions built by the Pigini firm in Italy.
At the concert he will present excerpts from his critically acclaimed album with music by baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti. An album sensationally won the National Danish Radio “listeners Prize” in 2019 competing with such giants as the Vienna Philharmonic and The Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

Toke Møldrup, cello
Bjarke Mogensen, akkordeon
